Hiu Island, Vanuatu - John Seach

Hiu is the northern most island in Vanuatu. To the west is the deep Torres Trench and 148 km north is Vanikoro in the Solomon Islands. Hiu is the largest island in the Torres group. it is 13.8 km long and 4.5 km wide.

The summit is Mt Wonvara (366 m) in the south of the island. It is located on an oval plateau 3.5 km x 2 km wide. Another plateau in the north has a summit of 246 m (Mt Tow Wona).
